Since I became a part of the SCORE organization, I have gained a deeper understanding of entrepreneurship. Many people dream of owning their businesses, so they invest quite a lot of money, time and effort. Unfortunately, only some prosper while others fail. What is the difference between these people? Was this due to their destinies or because of their planning? John L. Beckley’s word’s held much truth in them: “Most people don’t plan to fail, they fail to plan!”
SCORE has taught me the magic of “business planning”, moreover how it can be used to steer you toward a successful business. About 90% of my clients have sound business ideas, yet they don’t have any business plans. As a Sikh, I am aware of the many Indians as truckers, and store owners. I often hear many repetitions of "I know a lot” or “I have enough knowledge”. By not asking others for help or mentoring, people imply that they don't want to be perceived as “lesser” or “dumb”. In all honesty, how do you know what you don’t know? My recommendation is to learn as much as you can from other people, filter that info and choose what is right for you. Listen to others because you never know what inspirations could alter your life.
